Oh, right! By the way, I produced a musical in 2021...

Cast your minds back to the year 2020. There was a lot happening then, right? It was very unclear if theater would be able to return to production. It was right around then - in fact, it was then - that I moved my family from California to Nashville and transitioned into a career in sales.

You know, out of a general rush of desperation and fear. 2020! Fun year. 

In my free time, though, I had been working on an adaptation of the 1800s farce Box & Cox, which was funny many years ago and still reads funny today. The only problem was, it was a one act - about 40 minutes long by the time my adaptation was through, and that is a difficult length of work to produce in a live context. 

So, being in the Nashville area, I worked with a Nashville musical contact to add music to it - in the proud musical tradition of this ridiculously musical Music City.  And, because there is always a shortage of small-cast, one-set musicals for regional theaters to produce inexpensively, we kept the design and casting requirements as small scale as possible to aid to aid in ease of production.

The resulting show - A Butcher, A Baker, An Amish Homemaker - received its world premiere in August of 2021 at Maples Repertory. I probably ought to have posted about it back then, but between working full-time and being a new dad, I was fairly busy at the time.
